Bud's personal background spans over 15 years in engineering and engineering management for an electric and gas utility and two operating telephone companies. By the mid-1980's his experience included the management of a major AM/FM/GIS project, where his engineering background became invaluable in producing a productive implementation. He then began marketing GIS technology to utilities and telecom companies and later provided consulting services to companies involved in geographic information systems. He has worked for or consulted to numerous GIS vendor companies and is considered one of the most experienced and knowledgeable in the implementation of GIS for utilities.

The mission of Utility GeoSolutions is to provide a broad spectrum of GIS service offerings to utility companies, government entities and private companies involved in geospatial information technology projects.  Consulting services can be provided either directly by Utility GeoSolutions staff or through other qualified independent consultants that Utility GeoSolutions can call upon to perform additional services when needed.
